Somebody help me here, this is a series of movies about robots and people and light sabers...and all across the world normal(?) adults dress up, wait for hours and days and weeks and months in line to watch the movie...and have choreographed light saber battles and go to conventions where they learn more about star wars...

I just don't get it.

odd thoughts from NYC

I was having a quick dinner at a restaurant around the corner from my hotel and saw an employee covered in garbage bags carrying two bottles of bleach hurry to the upstairs dining room. Just a bit unsettling.

Also, everyone there has an Ipod. Everyone. I saw a granny with one, pushing a stroller with a three year old child wearing an Ipod. Download Barney?

My friend, the urban legend

When he told me, I thought this is almost as cool as knowing Elvis. Turns out my friend Matt Tullos in addition to being a tremendously talented writer, dad, and husband, is also an urban legend.

Seems that a piece Matt wrote years and years ago has been co-opted by churches, schools, military leaders, even a "free term paper website," and regularly turns up all over the place. If you go to Google and search  "Moses stuttered, David" which are part of a line in the piece, you will see some of the more than 100 links.

To most of the world, "Good Company" was written by Author Unknown. A few scumbags even took credit for his work and ripped him off.

While granted it may not be quite as cool as when I was recently informed that a relative of mine in Nigeria has money for me, or in hearing that there are alligators living in the sewers under New York City, or even the fact that somebody somewhere had their kidney taken while they were in a bathtub, I do think it is pretty cool that I have a friend who is an urban legend.

Now did I ever tell you about how I once saw Elvis and JFK living on a remote island in the South Pacific...

Road signs

i saw these two signs within a hundred feet of each other. They were somewhere along the way, maybe around the 367th showing of "The Incredibles."

I know they were in the same town. I am just not sure which town it was, but I think maybe Florala, Alabama.

Wish I had stopped to take pictures.

Sign 1 - "Turn or Burn." - Pretty straight ahead church sign stuff.

Sign 2 - "Miss Betty's Fireworks. Best Bang in Town."

Ohhh...I get it- play on words.

My Easter Poem (mostly a reminder to me)

It's Easter Time,

It's Spring Break now.

Pack the car, hit the road.

Cozyel, Mazatlan, Destin too.

Grab the kids, and maybe Grandma too.

Get a way, catch your breath, time to enjoy.

Celebrate the season of flowers blooming and sunshine.

(Oh, and by the way, Jesus was crucified and raised again)

Bird #1      So you got a nest?

Bird #2      I'm thinking about using the one from last year.

Bird #1      That sounds good. Have you heard what the raccoons are doing? I heard they've had landlord trouble.

Bird #2      They are still at Tall Pines. The Squirrel's have owned that tree for years. Every morning with those little ones just running around like animals, up and down, up and down, jumping on branches, yapping and chirping, always waking up the kids. Who could sleep?

Bird#1     Seems like some people will do whatever they can to impress everybody else. What about your other neighbors?

Bird #2     Oh the Barn's? You know how those swallows are. They got downsized and moved to Capistrano year round.

Bird #1     We were thinking about downsizing too, maybe one of those little step down units in the Oaks. But who knows? Just whatever happens.

Bird #2     That sounds nice. Why is it that everyone else is, "I need more string, I need more straw, I need more yarn," blah, blah, blah.

Bird #1     Who needs it?

Bird #2     Exactly what I was thinking.

I was just looking out the window and saw a couple of little birds rebuilding a nest in a tree in the front yard. Matthew 6:25 starts "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life..."
