Countdown to Christmas - Day Eight

Countdown to Christmas - Day Eight

Luke 2:8

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night."

And now for something completely different...

To reset the situation...Mary and Joseph have just taken a three day trip to BBethlehem. To be taxed. And because the city is full up and Joe the Carpenter is not a Hilton platinum member, they are spending the night in a stable.

And Mary is having a baby...

Meanwhile, a handful of shepherds are pulling the night shift on the outskirts of town. I imagine them sitting on a rock outcropping, a cool breeze is blowing, and they are telling shepherd stories.

"Did you hear about Mordecai?"

"No what?"

"He got promoted, day shift, with full union benefits and an expense account. For all the entertaining he does trying to get new flocks."

"Wow...who'd have thought...Mordecai.."

Or something likethat. Just everyday run of the mill shepherding. Watch the sheep, watch for wolves, watch for thieves, repeat ad nasuem...

No idea (at least for the moment) that just down the street, the entire world is about to be turned upside down.

And they would have a starring role. (get it...that's a Christmas pun...starring role.)

Guess you never do know what could happen tommorrow...
