Yes...I am reading a "romance"novel...so what???

0764200720_2 OK, let's just get this out in the open and talk about it like the sensible adults we are and address any questions that you may have head-on.

Yes, I am reading a romance novel. And yes I did stay up til 12:30 in the morning reading it...and yes I'll finish it tonight. (or at least on an airplane Thursday morning) And YES, I am comfortable reading a romance novel on a plane...I think.

A friend and business associate, Deeanne Gist wrote "A Bride Most Begrudging" and so I was interested in her work. I was strolling through Barnes & Noble recently and "accidentally" strolled into the "Romance Novel" section (kind of like when I was in sixth grade and I "accidentally strolled by the magazine rack the week that the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue came out, but that is another thing altogether.) I saw Dee's book and thought, "you know I ought to read that" and so I stuck the book under my arm, underneath a copy of (cough cough) "Field and Stream" and next to a boxed set of John Eldredge "manly, howl at the moon books" and made my way to the checkout stand.

When it was my turn to pay the tremendously disinterested multi-pierced sixteen year old cashier, I began to feel a bit awkward so I did the natural guy thing and asked the woman standing behind me in line if she would mind paying for the book for me. I promised that I would buy her dinner if she did. Lucky for me the lady in line behind me was the Beautiful Bride.

So a day or two later I mustered up the courage to plow into a "romance" novel. WOW. I am having a great time reading a "girl's" book and can see why these kind of books sell a zillion copies.

I'll share more after I find out how it ends...and Yes I did put the book in the car this morning so that I might read it at lunch...while I am eating a big sturdy sandwich or a steak or something manly...

What a hoot you are, Jeff. (And a manly, man as well, for only a REAL man reads romance!!)

Blessings!
